DELIVEROO TABLE PROPOSED 2025 UPLIFT AND RESTAURANT WAITING TIME PILOT
Posted on:
Dear Members,
We hope you are well.
Following our recent member survey on fares and costs we have met with the Company twice after which they made the following proposal.
PAYFLOOR
Lifting the minimum hourly payment or ‘Payfloor’ to £12.30 per hour + hourly transport costs meaning:
- Bike users moving from £12.10 to £12.40
- e-bike users moving from £12.19 to £12.49
- Scooter, moped and motor bike users moving from £13.52 to £13.82
- Car users moving from £16.27 to £16.57
This represents a proposed increase of 30p on top of the previous hourly payment.
RESTAURANT WAITING TIME (WAR)
GMB has consistently raised WAR with the Company as key area of member concern.
In response the Company has committed to pilot an app feature that pays riders for excessive wait at restaurant.
The pilot will commence in Q4 this year:
- Starting with all Editions and Hop sites, before scaling more widely to restaurants in Q1 2026.
- Continued roll out of ‘order ready’ and ‘rider check-in’ features – these need to be implemented to make any payment for excessive wait time work
- Riders will also need an NFC compatible device
- Payments would be made on the regular invoicing cycle.
OFFBOARDING
Offboarding is still an area of member concern, in response to GMB consistently raising it at our regular meetings the Company have agreed a joint review our offboarding process. In particular GMB wants to improve the information provided to riders throughout the process to aid rider appeals. At the moment GMB is re-platforming nearly 30% of members but we obviously want to continue to improve that.
COSTS
These were part of GMB’s member claim and the Company have proposed to review them in Q3 on the anniversary of their introduction.
GMB VIEW
Your GMB National Reps believe that the proposed restaurant waiting time pilot is a very positive initiative as this is an issue that many members raise with them, and if successfully rolled out would be very welcome. The payment of costs is still an important component of member earnings so the Q3 review will also be welcome opportunity to seek further increases. This is balanced however by the proposed 30p uplift which is short of members feedback on the initial pay survey.
We will be sending around a short member survey on the Company proposal by SMS to gauge the view of members, or you can complete it here: https://forms.office.com/e/C2LFPMcZ8D
Yours in union,
GMB National Deliveroo Reps & GMB National Officer
