Welsh farm feed workers to strike over pay disparity with English

Dozens of agricultural feed workers in workers in Wales are set to strike unless they get the same pay as their English counterparts.

A majority of 85 per cent of GMB Members at Forfarmers, n Carmarthen, voted to take strike action after the company failed to make an offer that would see them put on an equal footing with their colleagues at sites in England.

Workers doing same role in England are paid up to 30 per cent more by the company.

Peter Hill, GMB Organiser, said:

"It can’t be right that our members in Wales undertaking exactly the same job are paid significantly less than their counterparts across regions in England.

“That is unfair, plain and simple.

“The company needs to come back to the table and negotiate with the GMB urgently and get a deal."
