The first of twelve strike days across the Christmas period begins today [15 November] at Serco Sandwell.
More than 130 workers will walk out as follows:
15 and 16 November
24 and 25 November
20, 21, 22 and 23 December
4, 5, 6 and 7 January
Refuse collectors voted to strike following public safety concerns at the Household Recycling Centre on Shidas Lane, Sandwell.
Justine Jones, GMB Organiser said:
“Our members stand firm on their demand to make the tip site safe for the public.
“They are united against the tactics of Serco and will continue striking until significant progress is made.
“We’ll continue our dialogue with Serco management and hope they act to resolve this dispute and avoid disruption over the festive period.”
