The workers, employed by outsourcing giant ISS, are furious after a pay rise they were promised last year has failed to materialise.
Helen O’Connor, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
“Cleaning and portering services are essential for the smooth running of Princess Royal Hospital.
“It’s in the interests of patients, NHS colleagues and the community that these vital workers are treated fairly.
“The way ISS and the NHS trust have treated these workers is disgraceful.
“Delayed pay rises and a lack of respect are completely unacceptable to workers who keep us all safe on a daily basis.
“If we want Princess Royal Hospital to remain a safe environment, these workers need to be paid their dues.
“GMB members don’t want to go on strike, but if they aren’t heard on Friday they will show ISS and the trust their collective power.”
