GMB Union has responded to a report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG suggesting the availability of workers has fallen at an unprecedented rate.
Gary Smith, GMB General Secretary, said:
“It's no surprise the UK is facing rampant vacancies after years of austerity and slashed pay and conditions.
"Add to this the looming spectre of a furlough cliff edge and the UK is at a critical crossroads.
"We can't go back to business as usual. To fix the labour market crisis we need a proper industrial plan and end the race-to-the-bottom on pay and conditions.”
