Massive support for industrial action over lack of PPE, bullying and harassment

Workers at Serco Sandwell have voted to strike over working conditions.

GMB members are using their power to fight for a fair, respectful and safe workplace. They’re prepared to act where necessary to protect their livelihoods and wellbeing.

More than 87 per cent of those eligible voted for industrial action – with workers reporting anxiety and dread over coming to work due to a toxic culture of threatening behaviour from management - with some workers being forced into difficult situations compromising their health and safety.

GMB Union will now meet with workers to discuss strike dates.

Justine Jones, GMB Regional Organiser said:

“GMB members are using their power to fight for a fair, respectful and safe workplace. They’re prepared to act where necessary to protect their livelihoods and wellbeing.

“Nobody should be going to work feeling like this and we want to ensure that our key workers are treated with the respect they deserve.

“Industrial action is always a last resort and GMB will continue with meaningful discussions with Serco which will hopefully bring some positive resolutions for our members.”
