Solihull parks and cemetery workers are set to strike in a pay dispute.
Dozens of ground maintenance crews working for contractor IDverde will walk out for two weeks from 3 July and 10 July.
A strike ballot, which closed today (Friday) saw 100 per cent vote for strike action on a 70 per cent turn out.
Workers are angry because IDverde – who took over the contract from Amey last year – are trying to impose a real terms pay cut.
Rebecca Mitchell, GMB Organiser, said:
“IDverde have agreed to emergency talks and this is the last chance to avoid a Summer of chaos in Solihull's parks and cemeteries.”
“GMB members will not accept a real terms pay cut during a cost of living crisis. Workers have been left with no choice but to take a stand.”
“Ultimately it’s those who visit Solihull’s parks and cemeteries who will suffer if IDverde don’t change their truculent approach.”
