GMB, the energy union, has responded to changes to the energy price cap, which come into force tomorrow [Saturday]
Andy Prendergast, GMB National Secretary, said:
"Households across the UK are already struggling with high inflation and bills and removing Government support will only make things worse.
"The fact we are in this mess represents a failure of successive government to take an active role in energy.
"Instead of coming up with a plan to support both households and business they have left this to the market which fails to plan for the long term.
"Failure to invest in gas storage and new nuclear has left us extremely vulnerable and having to import energy at above market prices.
"The Government is failing both to provide the UK with the energy it needs, or a credible plan to reach net zero."
