Wendy’s operating a ‘get out and keep out’ policy towards delivery workers and Couriers, says GMB.
Delivery riders and drivers have today [Thursday 3 April] staged a protest today outside the Derby branch of Wendy’s.
The protest comes after the popular fast-food chain refused to install adequate shelter for delivery drivers or riders, as is industry standard at fast food restaurants.
Delivery workers and Couriers have also been refused entry to the restaurant as they await orders, leaving them and their orders exposed to the elements.
Claude Bahati, GMB Rep for Delivery Drivers and Couriers, said:
“Delivery is central to the business model of thousands of restaurants, including Wendy’s.
“Our members are waiting in the cold and rain on a regular basis as they await customers orders.
“This kind of ‘get out and keep out’ policy is bad for delivery workers and bad for customers.
“Wendy’s are refusing to do what every other major fast-food chain does; provide adequate shelter, or let our members wait inside for their orders.
“Our members demand respect and we urge Wendy’s management
to urgently bring a solution to the table”.
