GMB, the energy union, says a stand-off between two mothballed power stations and the Government risks blackouts.
Backers of the facilities have accused the Government of thwarting an effort to restart them, despite the UK being in the midst of an energy crisis.
Andy Prendergast, GMB National Secretary, said:
"This ridiculous stand-off is sheer folly from Government in thrall to market dogma.
“Ministers stubbornness could well lead to higher prices and the risk of blackouts.
“The Prime Minister must intervene - our UK energy security is too important to be held back by red tape or a market system which is demonstrably failing.”
