Ministers failed to grasp the scale of their own incompetence
GMB Union has called on the Government to take responsibility for thousands of needless covid deaths as the People’s Covid Enquiry report launch takes place today [1 December 2021]
The union gave evidence for the paper – entitled Misconduct in Public Office: Why did so many thousands die unnecessarily? - which is unveiled in Westminster this morning.
Rehana Azam, GMB National Secretary, said:
“This Government let people down badly during covid. Despite repeated warnings from GMB Union they were far too slow to protect workers.
“Ministers failed to grasp the scale of their own incompetence - as a result there were thousands of needless deaths.
“This administration must take responsibility for that.”
