GMB trade union has today called for pay justice for manufacturing members at BMI UK & Ireland.
BMI UK & Ireland, a major producer of roofing materials, faced calls from GMB after offering a real terms pay cut for workers across four sites across the Midlands region.
Workers across the four sites in Wigan, Van Dyke, Shawell and Bedworth, are now considering options in moving their campaign for fair pay forward after rejecting a derisory offer from company management.
Rebecca Mitchell, GMB Trade Union Organiser, said:
"Neither of the offers from BMI have been recommended by GMB Union."
"Inflation is at 11% and we won't accept a pay cut for our members. They are already struggling with the rising cost of fuel, national insurance and the appalling hike in energy bills; leaving many to choose between heating and eating. In 2022 this is not acceptable and my members are worth more than this."
GMB are ready to take the company on and demand a fair pay rise for our members".
