Strike action by private contractors at three of Nottinghamshire’s biggest hospitals has been suspended
Industrial action by nearly three hundred workers employed by contracting giant Medirest had been due to down tools at King’s Mill, Mansfield Community and Newark Community Hospitals later this week.
Action was scheduled for Thursday 1 and Friday 2 August in the ongoing dispute over the terms and conditions of private contractors in the NHS.
The news comes after talks between GMB Reps and Medirest reached an agreement today.
Workers will now take part in a ballot to decide on suspending future industrial action, with a result expected later this month.
Cameron Mitchell, GMB Organiser, said:
“This is the first step on the road to equal pay, terms and conditions for contractors in our NHS.
“GMB will never accept works being treated like second class staff in our NHS, and this campaign has show just how vital they are to the day to day running of our hospitals and services”.
