GMB, the union for NHS and social care workers, says any new funding must include ring-fenced cash for the workers who keep things running every day.
Rehana Azam, GMB National Secretary, said:
"The levy for the NHS and social care must include ring-fenced cash for the workers who keep things running every day.
"Without them our health and care services will collapse no matter how much money you pump in.
"We have 75,000 vacancies in the NHS and are facing 170,000 staffing black hole in care.
“Any credible plan for the future of social care and the health service must give proper pay, terms and condition to the staff doing the work – that's how you start tackling the massive understaffing crisis."
