GMB Trade Union - More than 100,000 accept local government pay deal

More than 100,000 GMB working in Local Government and schools have accepted the pay deal for 2024/25.

Following ballots of council, school and social care workers, GMB has written to the Local Government Association to confirm acceptance of the deal, which represents a rise of almost ten per cent for the lowest paid.

Rachel Harrison, GMB National Secretary, said:

“This pay deal is welcome and must now appear in our local government and school members’ pay packets as soon as possible – including back pay.

“We also look forward to the non-pay related parts of the deal being enacted quickly.

"GMB is now looking forward to next year and will be consulting members on pay aspirations for 25/26.

“We will be lobbying for this to be fully funded pay offer for schools and local government workers.”
