GMB Union has been notified by Thurmaston Junior School of its intention to sack three support staff and one teacher.
If the school goes ahead with its plans this will mean less one to one support for Special Educational Needs children in classrooms and less support for other pupils in their day-to-day learning.
The school is blaming budget pressures and says they cannot afford to retain these vital dedicated staff.
Dave Warwick, Organiser, said:
"This job cuts are yet another victim of Tory austerity part two and the failed academisation programme being pushed by the Conservative County Council and Government"
"We call on Ministers and councillors to step in an provide the funding needed to keep the wheels on this much-loved school in the heart of the community.”
