Doncaster Sheffield Airport saved after GMB campaign

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been saved following a GMB campaign.

People in the area a jubilant after 125 year lease was signed with the council.

Sarah Barnes, GMB Organiser, said:

“Workers fought tirelessly with their union and local politicians to save our airport.

“Although that battle wasn’t won, and we were badly let down by the PM Liz Truss, we never gave up hope.

“GMB welcomes this news to secure good, unionised jobs for working people in South Yorkshire.

“We look forward to working with the new operators to secure a future for workers at Doncaster-Sheffield airport.”
