GMB Union has responded to the owner of Doncaster Sheffield Airport refuting claims of a credible buyer.
Despite telling GMB and other interested parties during a meeting talks with being held with a bidder about a significant offer for the site, the Peel Group now claims no such bidder exists.
Sarah Barnes, GMB Organiser, said:
“The Peel Group is being completely disingenuous; at a consultation meeting they made it quite clear a serious offer is on the table - today they say no such offer exists.
“It’s almost like they don’t really want a buyer for the airport and want to flog the site for housing.
“But they are messing with the lives and livelihoods of the people of South Yorkshire- they need to do what’s best for the community, not for their shareholders’ pockets.”
