Any delay to Public Health England’s BAME covid-19 report, led by Dr Kevin Fenton, will ‘heighten distrust’, says GMB.

Rehana Azam, GMB National Secretary, said:

“In the context of global events, with the spotlight on structural and institutional racism, any delay of this report just heightens distrust.

“We can’t afford this at a time when stark evidence shows the pandemic disproportionately impacts BAME workers.

“People are dying and Ministers have been too slow to protect lives.

“That’s why GMB has joined the call for an independent public inquiry on the government’s response to coronavirus and its impact on BAME lives. We need answers, not delays.”
