This is some Conn trick; one rule for the boardroom and another for those who generate wealth
GMB, the energy union, has responded to the pay packet of Centrica boss Iain Conn rising 44% to a whopping £2.4 million. [1]
The pay rise is confirmed just four day after workers for British Gas, which is owned by Centrica, in Leeds and Glasgow were told their sites were under threat of closure as part of a reduction of 4,000 jobs in the company’s customer business by 2020.

Justin Bowden, GMB National Secretary, said:
“It is difficult to know which is more unbelievable, the size of Iain Conn’s pay rise or the timing.
"The hypocrisy is breath-taking; just days after announcing the intended closure of two sites in Leeds and Glasgow with the loss of hundreds of call centre jobs and while thousands of British Gas staff are in the process of being asked to accept cuts to their retirement pensions.
