A Durham factory that finished parts for the aviation industry is facing the first strike in its 100 year history.
GMB members at Nicholsons Sealing Technologies, in Stanley, will walk out on Friday [14 July ] after rejecting the company’s pay offer of 6.7 per cent and a one off payment.
Etain Stobbart, GMB Organiser, said:
"Nicholsons face the first strike in the company’s 100 year history. That alone should speak volumes.
“The message from members is clear: they feel undervalued and underpaid.
“They rejected the company’s pay offer as they felt it didn’t value the work they carry out.
”It is time for the company to come back to the table with an improved offer that shows they respect their employees.”
