GMB Union pleased Asda heeded calls to give key worker heroes family time over Christmas, but dissapointed not extra days holiday
GMB, the union for Asda workers, has responded to Asda’s announcement they will shut the majority of their stores on boxing day.
Roger Jenkins, GMB National Officer, said:
“GMB has been requesting Asda to allow their key worker heros family time over the Christmas period, so we are really pleased they have agreed to our calls.
“It’s a shame this is not an extra days holiday - workers will have to book a day of their annual leave entitlement.
“But it’s a step in the right direction and GMB now calls on the rest of the retail sector to follow suit and repay these key workers with a chance to spend Boxing Day with their loved ones.”
