Gelatin manufacturer PB liner has announced plans to close its Factory in Treforest.
The factory currently employs 96 staff.
PB Liener’s parent company Tessenderlo announced plans for closure of the site, citing declining demand for products made at the Treforest site.
GMB union called the plans a potential hammer blow for Treforest and pledged to fight for the best deal for their members.
Back in July the company saw strike action after the company looked to impose a 6% pay cut.
GMB regional organiser Gareth Morgans said:
“This factory has been here in Treforest for generations and this would be a real hammer blow for the local Community.
“To be honest the potential to for more good, unionised, manufacturing jobs pack up is a disaster and would leave another scar in the history of Wales deindustrialisation.
“No decisions have been made yet, and GMB will fight, fight and fight for the best deal for our members jobs”.
